Music Memory Makers: New accessible musical technology for people living with dementia
In this project, we developed new music technology that allows spousal couples living with dementia to play familiar songs together as musical duets, even with no prior musical experience. Couples reported that playing the Music Memory Makers Duet System together was easy and fun, and the duets sparked memories of joyful musical moments. Thus, the Music Memory Makers system cam potentially support relationship continuity and a sense of couplehood among couples living with dementia. It also provides a practical, engaging way for people to connect with each other through music more broadly.
