Language & Culture
Exploring Language & Culture evaluates intricate ways in which language and cultural practices shape and are shaped by human connection and alignment. Our research delves into how verbal information such as word choices and grammar, and non-verbal information such as gestures and facial cues, facilitates mutual understanding and shared worldviews and identities. We also investigate the role of cultural expressions and traditions in reinforcing a shared sense of identity and belonging. This research theme seeks to highlight the role that language and culture have in promoting understanding, cooperation, and community cohesion.
