The inextricable link between language and bias.
Culture is embedded in language; the manner and content of our language reflects shared beliefs, including those about social groups. Given this, language and bias about social groups are inextricably linked. In this review of the literature, we highlight the ways that language and bias intersect, including their direct relationships and complex interactions. This project emphasizes the role of language in shaping our perception of ourselves, others, and our social worlds.
